McKenzie carries a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a focus in Advertising and a Business Administration minor from West Virginia University.  In the Fall Semester of 2003, she was involved in a mock ad campaign for a speakeasy in Pennsylvania where she helped in redesigning their menu and created a sample website.  During the Spring Semester of 2004, she was involved in the American Advertising Federation's National Student Advertising Competition.  McKenzie was highly involved in the designing of the plans book along with fellow group members.

During McKenzie's senior year, she was a member of the West Virginia University Advertising Club and the American Advertising Federation.  She also worked as an intern for a Morgantown, WV based record label, Blues Alley Records.  There she helped with marketing of one of the favorite local bands, The New Relics, along with redesigning a website for a new and rising singer/songwriter, Holly Spears.  McKenzie managed Miss Spears' site until March of 2009.

Since graduating from WVU, McKenzie has been involved in transferring VHS home videos to DVDs and making slideshows for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, & life celebrations.  She has also helped with making lasting memories with scrapbooks, videology, and photography for family members.  In the past, she has created and maintained websites for a family reunion, a horse club, a horse farm, and a physical therapy practice.

Currently she is still maintaining Wilmington Police and Fire Federal Credit Union website.  In March 2024, she took on the maintenance of her former band director's business website, Soft Stands.  A complete redesign will be done in the near future.

In May of 2023, McKenzie's husband started a gaming streaming business, GamingwithMagus.  She has edited all of his videos and handles his social media accounts.  She also writes a lifestyle blog , Gigglebox blog, where she talks about the things she does as a stay-at-home mom and the fun, frugal things she does with her family.  Along with the blog, she also edits her own videos for her YouTube channel, Gigglebox Vlog.

During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, hanging out with friends, and creating lasting memories.
